10/10/2014 - The LUX Prize 2014 finalists Class Enemy, Girlhood and Ida will tour Europe from this weekend until next year

Once again, this year the European Parliament’s LUX Prize is aiming to reach the four corners of Europe, and in order to do this, the three finalist films will be screened all around the continent starting this weekend, through the LUX Film Days. After last year’s huge success, the LUX Film Days will increase its number of screenings to a total of 165 across 28 countries in Europe, taking place at film festivals, special screenings and events accompanied by presentations, debates and round tables.

film profile] are therefore the three finalists that will be screened. Biček’s depiction of school students rebelling against their teacher and the clash between their points of view, Sciamma’s insightful and brave look at the lives of a group of young black girls in the outskirts of Paris, and Pawlikowski’s exquisite coming-of-age poem superimposed over the painful past of Europe will visit some of the most prominent film festivals in Europe, such as the Viennale (23 October – 6 November), the Thessaloniki Film Festival (31 October – 9 November), the Sevilla European Film Festival (7-15 November) and the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (13-30 November), among others.

The tour of the films will start this Saturday 11 October in Luxembourg, at the Central and East European Film Festival CinEast, with the screening of Ida. Just one day after, Ireland’s IndieCork Film Festival will welcome the films, with the screening of Class Enemy on Sunday 12 October, which will be followed by Girlhood on 19 October. Croatia will then host the screenings as part of the Zagreb Film Festival, taking place from 19-26 October.

Last but not least, the LUX Film Days will also make room for viewers’ opinions by once again featuring the LUX Prize Public Mention. Viewers will be able to vote for their favourite film, and one of them will get the chance to travel to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival to announce the result.
