13/10/2014 - A German comes to Norway with a breeding ram and his – until now unknown – 12-year-old daughter in Johannes Fabrick’s new feature

Austrian director Johannes Fabrick has wrapped principal photography for his new comedy, Stroppy Cow, Stubborn Ram [+see also:

film profile]), at locations in western Norway, after filming in the Bergen area – Eidfjord, Aurland, Stalheim, Gudvangen and Kinsarvik, among other places – for 15 days, serviced by the Western Norway Film Commission.

“They arrived with 50 crew and cast in 25 cars, a catering bus with a freezer trailer, and the ram, so we basically assisted in finding the right places to shoot and explaining why the lake was so cold,” said film commissioner Sigmund Elias Holm, of the Bergen-based Commission.

“It is not a particularly expensive production – €3.2 million – and although prices are high in Norway, I am sure the locations will strongly contribute to the quality of the film,” German producer Sophia Aldenhoven told the local press.

Scripted by Petra K Wagner, and starring Wotan Wilke Möhring, Sofia Bolotina and Julia Koschitz, Stroppy Cow, Stubborn Ram is staged by German producers Uli Aselmann and Aldenhoven for Munich-based die film, in co-production with Hamburg’s a pictures & tv production and German broadcasters ZDF and ARTE, and will most likely be released in late 2015 by Majestic Films.

No job is too strange for Jacob (Möhring) – right now, he is impersonating Elvis Presley, in a glitter suit, with glued-on sideburns, to an audience of elderly ladies, but he needs the money. Next, he will bring a valuable breeding ram to Norway – by car, because the animal does not like flying.

The day before their departure, he gets a call from a long-forgotten girlfriend, Julia (Koschitz), who tells him that the result of their affair – the now 12-year-old Mai (Bolotina), whom he never knew about – has set off to go and meet her father. He sees no other solution than to take her with him to Norway.
