Launched in 2006, the Pôle Image de Liège (PIL) (Liège Image Centre) is a federation of audiovisual service providers, working in the areas of film as well as broadcasting, digitalisation, etc, with a view to developing and structuring the Walloon Image and Sound industry. The PIL centres on two principal axes: a Tax Shelter department that offers to take charge of fund-raising; and innovative infrastructure that brings together different providers in a technological hub devoted to audiovisual creation.

In order to fulfil its mission, the PIL has recently appointed a new managing director, French Pascal Diot. Thanks to his rich and lengthy experience in the international sales sector, Pascal Diot began his career at TF1. He then worked for UGC DA International, Canal+ Image International and finally Pathé International. In 1998, he created his own organisation, IDPL notably to guarantee financing and the international sale of After the Rain (Ame Agaru), Akira Kurosawa’s posthumous film, but his experience led him more and more often to be involved in launching or supporting Film Markets like that of the Dubaï Festival which he  took over in 2010. Currently he’s Director of the Venice Film Festival Market and Managing Director of Frontières, the Belgian-Quebec genre film market. He’s also a MEDIA expert at the European Commission. His goal is to "put the PIL on the world map of the film, television and digital industry".

The Chairman of the Centre’s Board of Management, Laurent Minguet, is delighted: "We’ve succeeded in creating a true "one-stop shop" for the audiovisual industry by transforming a former tobacco factory into a dream factory, (…) housing almost 40 companies all of which are in some way linked to image or sound. With the arrival of Pascal Diot, we want to go from being a business hotel to a fully-fledged creative trans-media hub that will spearhead the launch of digital not just in Belgium and Europe, but in the whole world."
