Today, an open letter was sent by Roberto Cicutto, president and CEO of the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, to the newly elected President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

Cicutto thanks the president for all that he will be able to do for Italian culture in general, and for the country’s film and audiovisual industries in particular. “For several years now,” the public letter from Luce-Cinecittà reads, “our cinema has earned itself awards and international approval, and built up renewed strength in terms of its authors, actors and producers. All this is thanks to the recent measures introduced by Minister Dario Franceschini and passed by the government, but above all it is thanks to our rediscovered creative strength, to the unity of each and every profession, to the will to again become world leader in an artistic field that has seen us in pole position for many decades.

“Cinema,” concluded Cicutto, “is recognised by everyone as the most effective ambassador of our excellence: artistic heritage, the beauty of the country and the ‘Made in Italy’ brand.
