11/02/2015 - BERLIN 2015: TrustNordisk has closed deals for Nils Gaup’s and Grethe Bøe-Waal’s new features at the European Film Market

film profile] – following two warriors who escape across the mountains with a two-year-old prince, the last remaining heir to the throne, whom half the kingdom is out to kill – will also reach cinemas in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

At the European Film Market in Berlin, leading Nordic international sales agency TrustNordisk has licensed the Finn Gjerdrum-Stein B Kvae Paradox production to Munich-based distributor Koch Media.

The Last King, which will be released domestically in early 2016, stars Jakob Oftebro, Kristofer Hivju, Thorbjørn Harr and Pål Sverre Hagen in Ravn Laneskog’s story set in the Middle Ages, revolving around the two men who saved the king-to-be, Haakon Haakonsson, thus changing the history of Norway.

At the Berlinale, TrustNordisk has also sold Norwegian director Grethe Bøe-Waal's adventure Operation Arctic [+see also:

film profile] to Telepool (for Germany), Swift Distribution (France), Pro Films (Bulgaria), Estinfilm (Estonia) and Ro-In Entertainment (Iran). 

Produced by John M Jacobsen, Sveinung Golimo and Marcus Brodersen for Filmkameratene, Bøe-Waal's feature debut, which was launched in the Sundance Film Festival’s new Kids programme, was filmed in the Arctic Ocean, with Kaisa Gurine Antonsen, Kristofer Hivju and Nicolai Cleve Broch in the leads.

Operation Arctic depicts how 13-year-old Julia and her eight-year-old twin siblings, Ida and Sindre – who through a tragic mistake have ended up on the deserted Half Moon Island – quickly learn how to master challenges and cope with wild animals, raging weather, a lack of food and the conundrum of how to communicate with the mainland.
