06/03/2015 - Cinematographer Sławomir Idziak to conduct BAFTA masterclass at BFI

The 13^th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival (April 8-May 29) returns to the UK with a bigger programme, with 57 films and events at the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Tate Modern, Frontline Club and Filmhouse Edinburgh. The season launches with Camouflage with director Krzysztof Zanussi in attendance. Kinoteka is further honouring the work of Zanussi with screenings of The Constant Factor and Illumination as well as the UK premiere of his latest film, Foreign Body [+see also:

Kinoteka is collaborating with the BFI for ‘Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema’, 24 classics from the likes of Andrzej Wajda, Zanussi, Andrzej Munk, Jerzy Kawalerowicz, Wojciech Jerzy Has, Aleksander Ford and Krzysztof Kieślowski, chosen by Scorsese, all restored and digitally re-mastered to 2K resolution, that will tour around the UK.

In a BAFTA Masterclass at the BFI Southbank, cinematographer Sławomir Idziak will discuss his career both in Poland and internationally; working with Ridley Scott (Black Hawk Down), John Sayles (Men With Guns) and Michael Winterbottom (I Want You) as well as having shot Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix [+see also:

The subject of this year’s Kinoteka retrospective documentary programme is the work of Wojciech Wiszniewski. Highlights of the New Polish Cinema strand include Jerzy Stuhr’s Citizen, Wojciech Smarzowski’s The Mighty Angel [+see also:
