Ex Oriente Film launches 2015 call for entries

Ex Oriente Film 2015 is looking for creative documentary projects in development and early production from the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. The directors and producers of the 12 selected projects will attend the three sessions of the year-long workshop, where they will develop their projects and funding strategies, and get valuable advice and feedback from leading international experts. The programme culminates in the East European Forum pitching and co-production meeting with Europe's and North America’s key commissioning editors, independent producers, distributors, buyers, and film-fund and festival representatives. In the 12 years of its existence, more than 150 documentary projects from CEE countries have passed through the workshop, including the award-winning The Domino Effect [+see also:

The timeline is as follows:
First session: 20-25 July 2015 (Rijeka, Croatia, in cooperation with REFINERI workshop)
Second session: 26-31 October 2015 (Jihlava, Czech Republic, as part of Jihlava IDFF)
Third session and East European Forum: 7-13 March 2016 (Prague, Czech Republic, as part of East Doc Platform and One World IFF)

For projects to be eligible, they need to be feature-length (52 minutes or more) documentary projects in development or production, tackling contemporary topics, pushing genre and media boundaries, and involving audience participation. The workshop is designed primarily for directors and producers from CEE and/or who have creative documentary projects dealing with stories from Central and Eastern Europe, and who set out to create intense and engaging experiences and to change the way we think about topical issues, audiences, ways of storytelling and the world itself.
