Somewhat on the low side this year, the French contingent being showcased at the Tribeca Film Festival (the 14th edition of which will unspool from 15-26 April under the auspices of its artistic director, Frédéric Boyer) will, in the Viewpoints programme, nevertheless be able to rely on a feature debut that generated quite a buzz among the critics when it came out in French theatres at the end of February: Being 14 [+see also:

A hyperrealistic chronicle of adolescence, Being 14 was produced by Kristina Larsen for Les Films du Lendemain and is sold abroad by Versatile. Interestingly, the Viewpoints section also includes Sunrise [+see also:
film profile] by Partho Sen-Gupta, a film co-produced by India and France (via Marc Irmer for Dolce Vita Films).
Also standing out on the menu of the New York festival founded by Robert de Niro is the Venice competition entry Far from Men [+see also:
film profile] by David Oelhoffen and the documentary Steak (R)evolution by Franck Ribière, both in the Spotlight section. Lastly, it is worth noting that Virgin Mountain [+see also:
