The Sheffield Doc/Fest (5-10 June) will open this year with a double header. The Look of Silence [+see also:

) will play at the Sheffield Showroom, followed by Benedikt Erlingsson’s The Greatest Shows on Earth: A Century of Funfairs, Circuses and Carnivals at the City Hall. The festival will close with Roger Graef and James Rogan’s Monty Python: The Meaning of Live.

The international film programme at the festival this year comprises 150 feature and short documentaries from 35 countries. Films in competition for the Grand Jury Award include Parvez Sharma’s A Sinner in Mecca, Sean McAllister’s A Syrian Love Story, Haibin Du’s A Young Patriot, Matthew Heineman’s Cartel Land, Solveig Melkeraaen’s Good Girl, Jeanie Finlay’s Orion: The Man Who Would Be King [+see also:
