Three Romanian films in Karlovy Vary competitions
- Box and The Magic Mountain will be competing for the Crystal Globe, while The World Is Mine is vying for the East of the West Award
Three Romanian features directed by Florin Şerban, Anca Damian and Nicolae Constantin Tănase will be screened at the 50th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (3-11 July).

film profile], a drama about Anghel (Rafael Florea), a 19-year-old boxer, and Cristina (Hilda Péter), a 30-year-old mother. They come from very different backgrounds, and Şerban stresses this aspect of his story by using professional actors for Cristina’s story and non-professionals for Anghel’s. The film is produced by Fantascope, and co-produced by augenschein Filmproduktion (Germany) and MPM Film (France). The Match Factory handles the international sales.

A blend of family-archive items and voice-over narration re-creates Winkler’s adventurous life. The film is produced by Aparte Film (Romania), Arizona Productions (France) and Filmograf (Poland).

Nicolae Constantin Tănase’s movie centres on Larisa (newcomer Ana-Maria Guran), a 16-year-old girl from a small Romanian town whose plans for a better future will face a series of obstacles. The World Is Mine was independently produced by Libra Film and deFilm.
