Atanas Hristoskov is currently in post-production with his second feature, Eighteen, a character-driven drama about four high-school graduates who have a wild night in Sofia. The film is staged by Incoms Project LTD, with Plamen Yordanov as producer. The budget amounts to €220,000, with €190,000 coming from the Bulgarian National Film Center.

Hristoskov is also the scriptwriter of this story about Nick (Martin Dimitrov), Jenny (Milena Ermenkova), Sonia (Desislava Kasabova) and Goat (Teodor Hristov), four youngsters who escape the noise of their prom and set out on a journey filled with adrenaline in the pouring rain. It is the night of 24 May 2015, a night that will change them forever.

The scriptwriter-director says he wanted to make a film about “young people who discover everything about the world around them with a single tap on their smartphones, but who face the same unanswered questions when it comes to the world inside them”. Hristoskov says his film actually has five characters, as the Bulgarian capital is omnipresent in the story. “Eighteen is a declaration of love to Sofia,” he commented.

A specialist in transmedia content, Hristoskov is preparing an innovative promotional campaign for his movie, focusing on interactive content. It is a strategy inspired by the four youngsters in the film, who constantly take selfies and film one another, continuously posting the content on social networks.

Born in 1976, Atanas Hristoskov debuted in 2011 with No. 1, a film that won the Golden Rose for Best Bulgarian Feature at the Golden Rose Film Festival, held annually in the city of Varna.

Eighteen will be released domestically in 2016.
