28/07/2015 - 28 projects receive support from state

The Lithuanian Film Centre has granted €390,378 of state funding for 28 projects. 14 are national film projects, nine of which– including one interactive project– have been granted financial assistance for development, while five other films– two features, one documentary, one short animation, and one short fiction film– will receive production support.

Films that received production support include the feature film Kharms [+see also:

film profile], directed by Ivan Bolotnikov and produced by Tremora, which received €51,000. €49,540 have been allotted to the production of the feature film Habit and Armour (Abitas ir šarvai), directed by Pawel Pitera and produced by Artbox. Of those receiving production support, Emilis Vėlyvis – whose film Redirected [+see also:

film profile] remains one of the biggest box office hits in Lithuanian history- garnered €27,000 for forthcoming feature Sisyphus Cult.

52 submissions for funding were received during the second competition of 2015. The Lithuanian Film Centre provides support for film development, production, distribution, promotion, educational projects, and preservation of film heritage. Debut films are also eligible for support. The new Lithuanian tax incentives that went into effect in January 2014 offer foreign producers up to 20% on their Lithuanian production budgets.
