- Game of Thrones star Ellie Kendrick plays the lead
Scottish filmmaker Hope Dickson Leach (the short Morning Echo) has commenced principal photography at Somerset locations on her feature debut The Levelling [+see also:
film profile]. Ellie Kendrick (television’s Game of Thrones) stars as a young woman who upon hearing about her brother’s death, returns to her rural home to find her family in terrible shape. The film is being made under the iFeatures initiative, Creative England’s low budget feature production initiative backed by the British Film Institute (BFI) Film Fund, BBC Films and Creative Skillset, with budgets of £350,000 per film.
Creative England’s Executive Producer of iFeatures, Christopher Granier-Deferre said, “I couldn’t be prouder of The Levelling, a film that thrusts iFeatures into the heart of rural England with a terrifically dramatic and moving portrait of agrarian life”.
Other films greenlit for production in the third iteration of the iFeatures programme are William Oldroyd’s Lady Macbeth [+see also:
