To head up his cast, the filmmaker, a la Fémis graduate known for his two short films Diagonale du vide and K-Nada (selected in the national competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2012 and 2015, respectively), has called upon Swann Arlaud (nominated for the 2016 César Award for Most Promising Actor for his role in Les Anarchistes [+see also:

), the script follows 30-something farmer Pierre. His life revolves around his farm, his cows, his sister Pascale and his retired parents, from whom he took over the whole operation. During the outbreak of an epizootic disease across France, Pierre discovers that one of his cows could be infected. With nothing else in his life, Pierre cannot let himself lose the farm, and will do whatever it takes to keep it. It is worth noting that the director is well acquainted with the agricultural world, as he himself is the son of a farmer.

Produced by Stéphanie Bermann and Alexis Dulguerian for Domino Films, Bloody Milk is being co-produced by France 2 Cinéma. While the rights to the film have been purchased in advance by Canal+ and OCS, it has also received backing from the CNC (in the form of an advance on receipts), the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region and the Gan Foundation for Cinema. Principal photography will take place in the Haute-Marne department and will run until 7 October. Pyramide will handle the film's domestic distribution as well as its international sales.

Bloody Milk is the first feature to be produced by Domino Films, Stéphanie Bermann and Alexis Dulguerian. The producers both started their careers at StudioCanal, before leaving to work elsewhere, with the former working in acquisitions at Mars Films and going on to produce there (notably working on the highly successful film The Bélier Family [+see also:
