, has been reaping the fruits of his success. The latest award to be won by Jean-Pierre Jeunet is the Grand Prix Cinema of the Year by SACD. The prestigious prize was presented during the Dramatic Writers and Composers Guild 2003 awards ceremony that was held on Monday 16 June in Paris. Jeunet’s feelgood heroine Amelie [+see also:

was seen by 8.6million domestic filmgoers, 3million Germans, 1.7million Iberians, 1million UK residents and 3million Americans.
SACD also assigned filmmaker Zabou Breitman the appellation of Best New Talent of 2003 for his directorial feature debut, Se souvenir des belles choses [+see also:

while actress Mélanie Douty won the Suzanne Bianchetti Prize for the film debut of a young theatre actress for her contribution to Claude Chabrol’s Il fiore del male.
In keeping with tradition, SACD celebrated the best that the Gallic film industry produced during the year and the other winners included André Téchiné, Constantin Costa-Gavras. Robert Guédiguian, the late Maurice Pialat, Audrey Tautou, Karin Viard and Virginie Ledoyen.
