MIDPOINT continues developing quality TV

The MIDPOINT International Script Development Program is continuing its MIDPOINT TV Launch educational workshop (read the news). The international screenwriting workshop focuses primarily on projects for high-end television series from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Baltic countries and the wider Mediterranean area. The three workshops, set to unfold over the course of one year (November 2016, April 2017 and August 2017) in three different countries, will tackle the development of a pilot episode and season arc while offering analyses and breakdowns of popular television series.
To promote the upcoming edition of MIDPOINT TV Launch 2017, the script programme is hosting a lecture by award-winning American television writer Robin Veith (Mad Men, True Blood, Outcast, The Expanse, Law and Order: SVU) at the Sarajevo Film Festival’s CineLink Drama television market on 19 August. In her master class entitled “Fundamentals of Writing for Television”, Veith will discuss developing ideas into television episodes, giving examples from her work on the Mad Men series, in addition to explaining the inner workings of the writer’s room in US television. The participants will work under the tutelage of core tutors Alan Kingsberg – who has been teaching writing at Columbia University since 1999 and worked as a showrunner on five animated television series, with producing or writing credits for just under 220 half-hour episodes – and film and television director and writer Rumle Hammerich, head of the Film Direction department at the Danish National Film School and former head of drama production at Danish national television station DR.
The workshop is open to participants with a project (teams of writers with producers and a director), while producers and commissioning editors are also eligible to take part without a project. Professionals with a background in filmmaking interested in the development of quality television and attendees with some experience in television development are also welcome.
