China's The Donor voted Best Film at the Turin Film Festival

China has scooped the Best Film Award at the 34th Turin Film Festival, which drew to a close on Saturday: the jury of the International Feature Competition (chaired by Ed Lachman, and comprising Don McKellarMariette RissenbeekAdrian Sitaru and Hadas Yaron) opted to give the top prize, which comes with €15,000, to the Chinese drama The Donor (Juan Zeng Zhe) by Qiwu Zang.

Nevertheless, Europe enjoyed a strong presence on the winners’ list at this edition of the Italian gathering: the Special Jury Prize, which comes with €7,000, went to the Austrian co-production (with South Korea and Argentina) A Decent Woman [+see also:

 by Fernando Guzzoni (a film developed at the TorinoFilmLab) bagged the Best Actor Award for its lead, Nicolas Duran. Best Actress was bestowed upon British performer Rebecca Hall for her outstanding performance in Christine by Antonio Campos.

, the very strong directorial debut by Hamè Bourokba and Ekoué Labitey (of French rap group La Rumeur) pocketed the FIPRESCI Prize. In the international documentary category, the Special Jury Prize (the jury being made up of Kamal Aljafari, Ann Carolin Renninger and Gaël Teicher) went to French movie Attaque by Carmit Harash, while the Italian doc competition (whose jury was made up of Eleonora Danco, Luciano Rigolini and Marcello Sannino) saw the triumph of Saro by Enrico Maria Artale, which earned the €5,000 top prize. In terms of the parallel awards, the Scuola Holden Award for Best Screenplay went to the British title Lady Macbeth [+see also:
