Fernando Colomo gets into the groove with La tribu
by Alfonso Rivera
- The filmmaker is following in the energetic footsteps of his previous film, Isla bonita, as he shoots his new comedy, which features musical numbers performed by Paco León and Carmen Machi
Two years ago, when he presented Isla bonita [+see also:

film profile], his 21st film, which began principal photography last week, he certainly confirms this: it is a movie brimming with music, joy and colour, toplined by two extremely charming actors: Paco León (Kiki, Love to Love [+see also:

The actress from The Open Door [+see also:

Today, her son bears an uncanny resemblance to Paco León, who breathes life into an executive who has lost everything, including his memory, and her reunion with him will give her a chance to feel part of a family again – one bound by rhythm.
The Tribe’s storyline was written by Joaquín Oristrell, Yolanda G Serrano and Colomo himself: “I feel very at ease with this screenplay. This story in which eight middle-aged women show that they are full of enthusiasm and spirit as they take part in urban dance, an activity normally reserved for younger, more athletic bodies, really deserved to be told. I came to understand that an image is worth more than a thousand words,” explains the director of La banda Picasso [+see also:
The cast of the film – which will be shot over a period of seven weeks, in both Madrid and Barcelona – is rounded off by Luis Bermejo, Julián López, Bárbara Santa Cruz, Artur Busquets and Manuel Huedo. It is being produced by MOD Producciones and Atresmedia Cine, in conjunction with Movistar +. It will be released next year by Hispano Foxfilms, and its international sales have been entrusted to Catalan sales agent Film Factory Entertainment.
