Lichter is out

by 

31 July will see the German release of strong>Hans Christian Schmidt's award-winning ensemble film, Distant Lights (Lichter). Set in Frankfurt and Slubice in Poland, the film follows the lives of five “losers” desperately searching for a better life.
The international cast includes well-known German and Polish actors like David Striesow, Maria Simon (Goodbye, Lenin! [+see also:

), August Diehl (La Petite Prairie aux Bouleaux) and Claudia Geisler (em>Die Unberürbare - No place to go). Produced by Claussen & Woebke with support from the FFF-Bayern, Lichter premiered at the 2003 Berlinale where it won the FIPRESCI award, followed in June by a Silver Lola. Lichter is distributed by Prokino.
