The EP organises a conference on “Cultural Heritage in Europe: Linking Past and Future”

On Tuesday 26 June, from 2pm to 7pm, the European Parliament will organise a conference on "Cultural Heritage in Europe: Linking Past and Future". The conference takes place against the backdrop of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.

The event includes speeches by key institutional stakeholders, such as European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament, and several EU Ministers of Culture. There will also be testimonies from artists from all over Europe: musician Jean-Michel Jarre, pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim, film director Radu Mihaileanu, conductor Ezio Bosso, chef Thierry Marx and photographer Mathilde de L'Ecotais, among others.

The conference has scheduled three panels. The first two will raise questions of cultural heritage in relation to "Europeanness", as well as examining how to preserve cultural heritage itself. The third panel will be dedicated to the economic potential of cultural heritage in the digital era.

The conference also includes several live artistic performances, most notably by the European Union Youth Orchestra. An exhibition on the history of video games will also be accessible during the whole afternoon.
