San Sebastián announces first titles selected for Zabaltegi-Tabakalera

The San Sebastián Film Festival has just unveiled the first titles that will be screened during the 66th of the gathering, which will take place from 21 to 29 September.
The festival’s most innovative and daring section, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, has announced six titles from its selection. Two of them are (co-)produced by Spain: Trot, the first feature by Galician filmmaker Xacio Baño (who has already been selected at the Locarno Film Festival with his short films), previously selected in the first edition of the festival's Ikusmira Berriak residencies programme, and Belmonte, the latest film by Uruguayan filmmaker Federico Veiroj, whose films have been selected for Films in Progress, Horizontes Latinos, New Directors and the official selection at the festival (The Apostate [+see also:

The second season of Bruno Dumont's TV series Li'l Quinquin [+see also:
film profile] (screened in Zabaltegi in 2014), Coincoin and the Extra-Humans, and Jean-Luc Godard's The Image Book [+see also:
film profile] are also in the selection, alongside The Daughters of Fire by Argentinian filmmaker Albertina Carri and An Elephant Sitting Still by Chinese director Hu Bo.
The festival has also unveiled some films that will screen in the Perlak section, such as Raúl de la Fuente and Damian Nenow's animation film Another Day of Life [+see also:

film profile]. Furthermore, the first Donostia Award of the festival will be bestowed upon Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, who won the latest Palme d'Or with his film Shoplifters. Kore-eda, who has already competed four times in the official selection of the festival and has carried off the Audience Award on two occasions, will be the first Asian filmmaker to receive this accolade.
