Maggie Cheung is the star of Olivier Assayas’ new feature, a contemporary drama entitled Clean.
Cheung, whom audiences will remember for her contribution to Assayas’ In The Mood for Love, is joined by Béatrice Dalle, Jeanne Balibar and Laura Smet.

were selected for two editions of Cannes. This new film is much more inward-looking.
Set against a backdrop of the chemically enhanced music business, it is the story of a fallen rockstar who tries to save her son from becoming a victim of drugs. Clean is scheduled to go into production on 13 October in Montreal and filming will continue in locations in London and Paris. Maggie Cheung will also sing in the film and her songs are produced by Tricky. The score also contributions from Portishead and Massive Attack.
Produced by Elizabeth Films with a €5.3m budget, Clean is co-produced by the UK’s Hay Stack, Canada’s Rhombus Media, Arte France Cinéma and ARP who will handle the Gallic distribution.
