 tells the story of a couple, unfolding between the summer and the winter of 1989. It begins in provincial East Germany. When Evelyn (Anne Kanis) catches Adam (Florian Teichtmeister) cheating on her, she leaves for Hungary on holiday. Adam heads off after her. When Hungary opens its border to Austria, Evelyn wants to cross – and so Adam ends up in the West, without ever wanting to leave.

This is the subject of Andreas Goldstein’s latest feature, based on the novel of the same name by renowned German author Ingo Schulze, and adapted by the director and Jakobine Motz. The film is set to have its world premiere in the 33rd Venice International Film Critics’ WeekAdam & Evelyn was produced by Germany’s ma.ja.de. Fiction with Cine Plus Mediaservice and ZDF/3sat, and with the support of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), BKMDFFF and Creative Europe – MEDIA.
