Gente di Roma at Viareggio

EuropaCinema, the oldest and most prestigious festival for productions from the Old Continent has celebrated its 20th birthday in great style. The event opened on Saturday (it continues until September 27) with a great world premiere. The "Film Train" left from the capital with directors, actors and journalists on board and stopped at Viareggio. Also making the journey was Ettore Scola and his latest film, Gente di Roma [+see also:

. "Rome, it's an extraordinary city. The thousands of years of its existence has brought us an unique understanding, which attracts foreign vistors as no other place in the world". Ettore Scola explaining his tribute to the eternal city in his choral film starring Stefania Sandrelli, Valerio Mastandrea, Sabrina Impacciatore, Fiorenzo Fiorentini and Arnoldo Foa'.

The film about the Romans and the immigrants to the city was made with the agility and immediacy captured by a digital camera. It opens with a dedication to the Roman actor, who died earlier this year, Alberto Sordi: "Albertone also had to be part of the cast", explained the director. The film will be released in Italian cinemas on October 30, with a special screening on October 28 at the Auditorium in Rome.
