The Italian Cinema Journalists Union (SNGCI) awarded the 2002 European 'Nastro d'Argento' to Pedro Almodovar for his film entitled Parla con lei. The Spanish director, who expressed his enthusiasm at the news, has already received two ribbons for Best Foreign Film in 1989 for Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and in 1998 for Carne tremula. The European Ribbon to be accepted by the director during the awards ceremony of the Taormina BNL FilmFest on July 6, is now in its fourteenth edition. The SNGCI award is an annual tribute presented exclusively to foreign personalities through a referendum held among the union´s 300 members. The SNGCI has recognized numerous European directors with this award, including Emir Kusturica - who celebrated last years with an extraordinary concert on stage - , Werner Herzog and Claude Chabrol.
