GERMAN FILM AWARD

«Lolas» x two

by

- Caroline Link e Michael Herbig top this year´s palmarès

The 2002 edition of the German Film Awards, familiarly known as the «Lolas» was very much a «two horse race» with Caroline Link´s Nirgendwo in Afrika winning five «Lolas»: best film, director, supporting actor Mathias Habich, music (Niki Reiser) and cinematography (Gernot Roll), and Michael "Bully" Herbig winning the Audience Award for Best German Film of the year and Best German Actor of the year for his hit Der Schuh Des Manitu - Manitu´s Shoe. Not content, the organisers also lavished a specially created Golden Lola on Herbig for his «contribution to the German film industry».
The awards were presented on the evening of June 14 at Berlin´s Tempodrom.
The list of winners is available on Goethe Institut´s site.
