Red carpet for Pål Sletaune at Filmport

Pål Sletaune, the creator of the acclaimed Junk Mail is going to present his new film Next Door (Narboer) to the Oslo audience during the closing night ceremony of the Filmport Festival in the Norwegian capital (March 4-10).

Next Door is the director’s third feature film following his multi-awarded feature debut Junk Mail (Grand Jury Prize in Cannes 1997), and You really got me (2001). Based on the director’s own original screenplay, the psychological thriller with strong sexual undertones stars Kristoffer Joner, Cecilie Mosli, Julia Schacht and Michael Nyqvist. The film is a co-production between Sletaune’s own production company 4 1/2, the Swedish Memfis and the Danish Zentropa Productions, with Nordisk Film International sales handling world sales.

Next Door is one of two Norwegian premieres part of the program of the 4th Filmport Festival, with the Norwegian/Moroccan co-production Le regard (Blikket). The film is the directorial debut of Moroccan-born Nour-Eddine Lakmari who has lived in Norway for the last 20 years. Starring Jacques Zabor and Khalid Benchegra, the film supported by the Norwegian Film Fund tells the story of war photographer Albert Tueis and his experiences in Morocco under French protectorate.
Some 19 new films in total will screen at Filmport and seven international guests will be discussing their films with the audience in the Vika art-house cinema in Oslo. Among the films that will be followed by a debate are the Danish box office hit King’s Game (Kongekabale), the popular Swedish film Dalecarlians [+see also:
