Six European films in Asia

by

With the support of the Media programme, six European films chosen by the European Coordination of Film Festivals will travel to Hong Kong to be screened in the Hong Kong International Film Festival (22th March – 6th April). This initiative will bring other six films to festivals in Singapore, New Delhi, Sao Paolo, and La Havana.
The European Coordination gathers film-makers, actors, buyers, and journalists, at a series of screenings, meetings with local distributors, and promotes the European films brought to the market.

The actress Sylvie Testud will be there presenting Les Mots Bleus, with its director, Alain Corneau (in competition in Berlin), and also Chantal Akerman's Belgian/French co-production Demain on déménage. The new Scandinavian star director Lukas Moodyson’s latest film, A hole in my heart (Ett hall i mitt hjärta) will be here, sold by Trust Films Sales. The other three movies were made by young directors. Summer Storm is Marco Kreuzpaintner’s second film ; this German production is sold by Bavarian Films. Czech Dream, by Vit Lkusak and Filip Remunda, which depicts the opening of a fake supermarket, is an ironic pamphlet against the imperialism of liberalism, as the Czech Republic is entering the EU. Dealer (Hungary) is Benedek Fliegauf’s second feature after Forest (Rengeteg).

Apart from the films selected by the Coordination, Europe is particularly well represented by French productions such as Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s A Very Long Engagement, screened for the first time in Asia. In the 'Gala Presentation' section, we find André Téchiné’s Changing Times [+see also:
