Animated film picked up by German Solo Media

The first full-length Estonia animated feature film Lotte From Gadgetville has been picked up by German sales company Solo Media which will handle international sales on the film currently in production.
The characters of ‘Lotte’ are based on the successful TV series Lotte’s Journey South sold to over 25 territories in Europe, South American and Asia. It is co-directed by Janno Põldma (who made Lotte’s Journey South), and Heiki Ernits (a world famous illustrator and caricaturist) who directed together several award-winning animated short films.

Lotte From Gadgetville is a €2M co-production between Esti Joonisfilm (Estonia) and Rija Film (Latvia) –an established animation production company who worked on Les Triplettes de Belleville and Kirikou et la sorcière. It was also supported by the MEDIA programme. “We’re now applying for support from Eurimages”, told producer Riina Sildos from Esti Joonisfilm to Cineuropa, “and the film will be released next Spring”.

Another Esti Joonisfilm animated film Frank & Wendy, the adventures of two super-agents who try to solve complicated cases around the world, will compete at the Annecy Animation Film Festival next June.
Finally the family film Ladybird’s Christmas, a 2001 box office hit in Estonia, has just been sold by Esti Joonisfilm to Benelux and Taiwan.
