In order to better understand, appreciate and promote the potential of young talent Andrzej Zulawski (The Main Thing Is to Love, Possession, The Public Woman, Blue Note) accepted to preside over the jury at the first Young Film Festival at Wroclaw, which takes place between the 2nd and 4th of June 2005 in the capital of Silesia.

As the rules indicate, the competition is open to professional directors worldwide who are under the age of 40. There are several categories for prizes: young director, young actor, young actress, young producer, young director of photography, young composer, young screenwriter, and, out of competition, the prize for amateur drama. The winners of each category will receive a Szermierz (The Fencer) statuette.
The Young Film Festival is not restricted to competition as the organizers were keen to offer participants a whole range of workshops on acting, directing, screenwriting and journalistic criticism. Finally, the series of films "Young Rebels of Yesterday” presents works by masters of the Polish cinema: Wojciecha Has, Andrzej Wajda, Andrzej Zulawski, Agnieszka Holland. The organizers hope to attract twelve thousand spectators during the 3 days.
