from the Dardennes brothers, coinciding with the publication of their book Au dos de nos images 1991-2005 which includes the screenplays for Le Fils and for L'Enfant. There is also a report dedicated to Olivier Smolders’ film, Nuit Noire [+see also:

Pride of place goes to reviews of the DVD releases of this month, and notably successes from the Belgian independents last year, Aaltra, by Benoît Délépine and Gus Kerven, produced by La Parti Production which we will also revisit in the days to come. In the theatres, Cinergie makes a detour to Les Vacances de Noël by Jan Bucquoy (with a presentation of La Vie sexuelle des belges on DVD) and Last Night on Earth by Gilles Daoust and stops to have a look at Poulet-Poulet by Damien Chemin, a short film with some bite, a no holds barred domestic argument.

This cursory look at the Cinergie highlights should also mention the feature Tournages which has changed formula and will open with notes on Michel Mees who is shooting Porquerolles (working title) in Mexico and in France, "the story of a guy...born on a barge near Clabecq on the 6th of December 1857, left for Paris on foot, ended up in Canada then Panama, California and then Mexico where he discovered a gold and silver mine. He was, by the end of the 19th century, one of the richest men in the world. And in 1912 he bought the island of Porquerolles". To quote Jean-Michel Vlaeminckx, "the film-serial" has started on Cinergie. To Be Continued...!
