Brasileirinho hits French and Swiss screens

Mika Kaurismäki’s documentary film Brasileirinho first shown in Berlin’s Forum section last February, is being released today in France and Switzerland. The French theatrical release is handled by Editions Montparnasse in co-operation with MK2 who has booked 25 cinemas throughout the country (including 10 in Paris), and the Swiss release by Mont Blanc Distribution.

Brasileirinho about Brazilian choro music, the first urban Brazilian music genre born in Rio de Janeiro in the middle of the 19th century has been sold to more than 25 countries in total and will be released during the autumn notably in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain.
The Finnish/Brazilian/Swiss co-production is also screening this week in the Documentaries of the world section of the Montreal World Film Festival (August 26 – September 3).
