PRODUCTION Poland

Cinema for Saint Valentine

by

Ryszard Zatorski, director of Nigdy w życiu! (Never in life!) – the biggest Polish commercial success of 2004 – started shooting his new film Tylko mnie kochaj ("But you have to love me..."). The new production is made according to the same recipe as the last one: it keeps the style of a gentle romantic comedy in which we find very good Polish actors normally associated with TV roles.

Nigdy w życiu! –film adapted from the best-seller by Katarzyna Grochola (a kind of Polish Bridget Jones) – attracted in 2004 the record number of 1 600 000 spectators with 5,7 million euros of receipts. This time Zatorski tells the story of a young architect whose life is suddenly changed by a young 7 year old girl, and turns full-circle. "This story demonstrates that the struggle for true love is always worth the pain, even if we risk a lot, or everything," the director stated.
The screenplay was written by Ryszard Zatorski. Maciej Zakoœcielny, young 25 year old actor, plays the role of the architect and is accompanied in principal roles by Agnieszka Grochowska (Warszawa by Dariusz Gajewski – Golden Lion Gdynia 2003) and Agnieszka Dygant. The film was produced by Tadeusz Lampka of MTL Maxfilm and Dariusz Gąsiorowski of TVN. The premiere is scheduled for Saint Valentine’s Day 2006 but no distributor has yet been secured.

Three days later, spectators can see in the cinema the follow-up to the adventures of Judyta –principal character of the best-seller by Grochola. The second part of the story, Ja ci pokażę ("You’ll see"), was not filmed by Zatorski but by Denis Delić, Croatian director, graduate of the Lodz School for Cinema. The screenplay was by Katarzyna Grochola and Cezary Harasimowicz. It is Grażyna Wolszczak who this time plays the role of Judyta. The film is produced by Jacek Samojłowicz for Film Media S.A and will be distributed by Forum Film.
