The new film week in Holland has travelled around the globe to satisfy all tastes.Just like last week, two Dutch productions are released on the big screens : Johan, first film for the cinema from TV director Nicole Van Kilsdonk with the young star Michiel Huisman and from a screenplay by Mieke de Jong, it is distributed by Buena Vista. The other one, Castingx by Ab Bol distributed by Moonlight, is a first film, rock 'n roll style, from a jack-of-all-trades now in the cinema world after several commercials.

Another European release, this time from Germany, the animated film from the Belgian-German duo Piet de Rycker and Thilo Rothkirch, Laura's Star, all of whose films have known success (Tobias Totz et son lion in 2000, L’Ours Plume in 2002, which achieved 2 700 000 in Germany alone, and for which the follow-up is currently in production), distributed by Warner Bros.

Three films come from the Americas. Only one comes from the North - The 40 year old virgin by American Judd Apatow distributed by UIP – and two from the south: Bonbon – El Perro from Argentinean Carlos Sorrín distributed by 1 More Film and Cronicas by Sebastián Cordero, a Mexico-Ecuador co-production distributed by Paradiso Entertainment. The Russian Night watch, fantasy blockbuster by Timoer Bakmambetov from Fox while Twin Film distributes a Bollywood production, Makdee : The web of the witch from composer Vishal Bharadwaj, and Inspire Picture a very serious Jacky Chan, New Police Story, Hong Kong thriller from Benny Chan.

still in first position but also Zoop in Afrika in 11th place after 12 weeks and De Kameleon 2 in 16th position after 14 weeks. Note, too, the arrival in 6th place of Leef ! from Dutch director Williem van de Sande Bakhuyzen who died a few days after the release of his film, which is averaging 3 400 euros worth of tickets per screen.
