A-Film organises this week the release of the Franco-Anglo-Italian-Czech co-production by Roman Polanski, Oliver Twist [+see also:

film profile] on 19 prints in Holland. The little hero of the novel by Charles Dickens will have to battle with another legend who is invading the whole of Europe (the film is released also France, Belgium, Spain, in Germany, Austria, in Scandinavia...), The Legend Of Zorro from New Zealander Martin Campbell starring Spaniard Antonio Banderas, distributed by Sony Pictures on 85 prints.

Aiding Polanski against this American super-production, the screens in Holland will show two other European works. The second feature by Lucrécia Martel La Niña Santa (Holy Girl), an Argentinean co-production with Spain l (El Deseo, production house of the Almodóvar brothers), Italy and Holland. In Cannes the film was in competition in 2004 and is distributed by Cinemien with 5 prints. Claire Denis’s Intrus (The Intruder), is released by Filmmuseum in two theatres. The film, adapted from an essay by French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy, is in the hands of superb actor Michel Subor.

The American film, The Big White by Mark Mylod, with Robin Williams, completes a film panorama that is lighter than last week, which saw 5 new films.
