13 (Tzameti) at Sundance

The selectors for the world’s most famous events continue to show great interest in 13 (Tzameti), first feature by Gela Babluani. Selected for Venice Days and crowned Lion of the Future attributed to the Best First feature at Mostra 2005 (read l'article), the shock film from the 26 year old director will take part in the next Sundance festival (19 - 29 January) in the World Cinema section alongside 15 dramatic fictions from the around the world, including Princesas from Spaniard Fernando Leon de Aranoa, Grbavica by Jasmilla Zbanic (Bosnia Herzegovina), Allegro [+see also:

Interpreted by Georges Babluani and Aurélien Recoing, 13 (Tzameti) was produced by Les Films de la Strada, a Parisian company created by the director, Fanny Saadi and Jean-Baptiste Legrand. Coproduced by Quasar Pictures and Solimane Production, the feature is sold internationally by MK2 Diffusion(also coproducer) who will also handle French theatrical distribution from the 1st of February 2006. This film by Gela Babluani, Georgian living in France for 10 years, was acquired for the UK and Ireland (release the 6th January 2006) by Revolver Entertainment who showed a 15 minute promo reel at Cannes. Cineuropa will dedicate a complete Focus to 13 (Tzameti) when it is released in France.
