- British audiences are voting with their feet and flocking to see a gay comedy by two young Brit talents

British cinema is experiencing a David and Goliath moment with a low-budget British film, the second by Tom Hunsinger e Neil Hunter called The Lawless Heart holding its own against U.S. giant, SpiderMan.
Written by Hunsinger and Hunter and produced by Martin Pope, The Lawless Heart was released last week onto just 10 screens, but reported the second-best per-screen average of €6,169 - second only to Sam Raimi´s mega production. The Lawless Heart was first seen at last year´s edition of the Locarno Film Festival, taking home four Leopards.
Loosely based on Eric Rohmer´s Les Rendez-Vous de Paris, The Lawless Heart tells how the death of a gay restaurant owner hits his friends and family.
Lauded by The Guardian as «one of the best English films of recent years», the film stars a «top quality cast». Hunsinger and Hutton, who won the 1997 edition of Turin´s Gay & Lesbian Film Festival with their feature debut entitled Boyfriends, said they could not be happier with reactions to this new film.
