The 56th Berlin International Film Festival will honour the Polish director and screenwriter Andrzej Wajda and the British actor Sir Ian McKellen with an Honorary Golden Bear for their lifework.

Andrzej Wajda will receive the honour on February 15, in the Kino International. Following the ceremony, his film Pilate and Others will be shown in the 1972 original German version. Sir Ian McKellen will be awarded on 11 February. Richard III, in which McKellan plays the lead role, will be shown following the ceremony.
