by

The 17th edition of the International Documentary Market Sunny Side of the Doc kicks off today. The event, which has been held in Marseille for the past 16 years, will this year take place in La Rochelle, where until June 30, producers, distributors and broadcasters from over 50 countries will negotiate completed and commissioned projects, and even seek co-productions.

The 2006 edition (supported by the CNC and the EU’s MEDIA programme) has beaten the record for the number of buyers and heads of international broadcasters present, with 370 participants of the 2,000 to attend the event.

Another forum entitled “Cinéma et documentaire" will include presentations from Michel Reilhac of Arte France Cinéma and representatives of Icon and Gaumont, as well as a debate on "VOD vs DVD".
