Shooting begins on Costanzo’s second film

Shooting began July 3 on the second feature film by Saverio Costanzo, who won the Golden Leopard at the 2005 Locarno Film Festival for Private [+see also:

The new film, based on the novel Il gesuita perfetto by Furio Monicelli, will be entitled In memoria di me (lit. “In Memory of Me”) and is being shot on the Venetian island of San Giorgio.

Bulgarian actor Hristo Jivkov, who starred in Ermanno Olmi’s The Profession of Arms, has been chosen for the leading role of a young monk.

Shooting of the film, which deals with the top of religious vocation without, however, alluding to – as in the book on which it is based – homosexual love with a novice, will end on August 29.

In memoria di me is being produced by Offside and Medusa Film.
