by

Shooting finished last week on J'veux pas que tu t'en ailles (lit. "I Don’t Want You To Go"), the second feature by Bernard Jeanjean, director of the romantic comedy Tell Me I'm Pretty, which was dubbed the French Bridget Jones by TV weekly Télérama and turned out to be the box office surprise of summer 2004.

The director’s debut feature was selected by Unifrance in March 2005 as one of the films presented at the Rendez-vous with French Cinema in New York. For his second feature, Jeanjean has brought together a cast that includes Richard Berry, Judith Godrèche and Julien Boisselier, for a tale of love affairs set against a backdrop of manipulation.

Scripted by the director, J’veux pas… focuses on Paul, a brilliant psychoanalyst (Berry) oblivious to the fact that his ten-year marriage to Carla (Godrèche) is going through a rough patch. One of his patients (Boisselier, the star of Tell Me I’m Pretty) reveals to him that he has fallen in love with a married woman – his! Paul then tries to use his patient to salvage his marriage. However, the lover does not let himself be manipulated for long. The film’s title is a reference to a 1982 song by Michel Jonasz.

Produced by Caroline Adrian, Fabrice Goldstein and Antoine Rein (2006 Producer On The Move – see interview) for Delante Films and Karé Productions, J'veux pas que tu t'en ailles is being made on a €4m budget.

The seven-week shoot, which began last June, took place in and around Paris and in Lyon. The film’s French distribution (planned for June 13, 2007) and international sales are being handled by UGC International.
