, the first-ever Sino-Finnish co-production and first ever Finnish film to be released theatrically in China, is going to open there on October 24 on a massive 150 screens.

According to Ellen Eliasoph, Vice President of Marketing and Distribution at Warner China, “Initial screenings to exhibitors and media in China have been very well received, and have prompted Warner China to decide to release the film on at least 150 prints, which is unprecedented in China for a co-production of this budget level. Gala premiere events will be held in Beijing, Guangzhou and other cities with the participation of the director and stars, and the support - also unprecedented! - of the Finnish Embassy and Consulates in China.”

The film had its world premiere in Toronto last month and opened last Wednesday in Finland through Sandrew Metronome. Inspired by the myth and majesty of the Finnish national epic Kalevala, Jade Warrior is the story of a love-struck hero fighting against the restrictions of modern life and searching for love beyond time and place. In the course of his journey to be reunited with his love, he re-discovers his true origins, his skills as a warrior and his unique destiny.

The film, shot in Finland, China and Estonia, was produced in Finland by Blind Spot Pictures in co-production with Fu Works in the Netherlands, Peter Loehr/Ming Production in China and Margus Õunapuu/Film Tower 3 in Estonia. Paris-based Rezo Films has already sold it to over 30 territories.
