25% market share for local films

by

Domestic admissions for Finnish films have increased by over 60% in 2006 compared to 2005, now exceeding 1.5m.

This represents a 25% market share, a drastic improvement on 2005’s 15% slice of the market, which will undoubtebly continue to grow as two more Finnish films are still to open before the end of the year: the children’s film Mystery Of The Wolf byRaimi O. Niemi and Rock N’ Roll Never Dies by newcomer Juha Koiranen.

The top release of the year – out of all titles– is still Aleksi Mäkelä’s Matti: Hell Is for Heroes, which has sold over 462,000 tickets.
