Gambit and Zeit des Abschieds win awards

On December 2, Gambit by Sabine Gisiger (Dschoint Ventschr) won the 11th International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage in the Mediterranean Reportage category at Civitavecchia (Italy).

Already having screened at over ten international festivals, this investigation into the ecological disaster in Seveso has won awards at the Locarno, Bolzano, Duisburg, Madrid and Mar del Plata film festivals.

On the same day, another Swiss documentary, Zeit des Abschieds (lit. “Time to Leave”) by Mehdi Sahebi (Cineworx), won the Jury Grand Prize and the Audience Award at the 21st Entrevues Film Festival in Belfort.

The film – presented at the 2006 Vienna Film Festival and winner of the Locarno Critics’ Week Prize – after Gambit in 2005 – follows a drug addict with AIDS until his death from cancer.
