Thirty years on, Mike Hodges, the man who directed Get Carter, widely acknowledged as being the best British gangster movie ever, is back with a crime thriller entitled I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. The film went into production on location in London and Wales.
This story about a reclusive and legendary gangster who returns to his old haunts and habits after a traumatic family event and stars Clive Owen (Gosford Park), Charlotte Rampling (Under The Sand), Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Bend It Like Beckham) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange).
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead is produced by Mike Caplan and Michael Corrente for Revere Pictures and Seven Arts (who are also handling international sales), while Paramount Classics bought the distribution rights for the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the Middle East.
This is the first of a packet of five films that Roger Marino -executive producer on L'll Sleep..., and his business partner Michael Corrente, co-founders of Revere Pictures, are scheduled to make over the next 12-month period.
Hodges' film will also riunite some of the crew of Get Carter, including DP Mike Garfath, production designer Jon Bunker, camera operator Gordon Hayman and costume designer Evangeline Harrison.
