Government announces first beneficiaries of new export fund

Five foreign distributors are to benefit from the Swiss support fund for export, which was created this year by the Cinema Section of the Swiss Office for Culture (OFC) and the national promotional agency Swiss Films (see news).

The Exhibition and Diversity sub-committee of the OFC, which meets four times yearly – in March, June, September and December – has allocated total funding of €60,000 for the exhibition of four Swiss features and one documentary in foreign cinemas.

With the generous sum of €10,000, Andrea Staka’s Fraulein [+see also:

will be released through Blitz Film on May 17 in Croatia and on June 15 in Bosnia, Serbia and Slovenia.

In Germany, X-Verleih has received €25,000 for the March 29 release of Bettina Oberli’s Late Bloomers [+see also:

, while Stardust has received €10,000 for the exhibition of Samir’s Snow White (see Focus), slated for a May release. Kinostar also received €10,000 for the release of Christian Labhart’s documentary Zum Abschied Mozart, which opened on German screens on March 8.

, backed for €5,000, will be released on May 4 in Brazil by the Associação brasileira Mostra internacional de cinema (ABMIC).
