The German-Polish Co-development Fund (set up by the Polish Film Institute, Mitteldeutschen Medienförderung and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg) has allocated €57,125 to two co-productions between Germany and Poland.

Scripted by Michaela Hinnenthal, Wintervater marks the actress’ directorial debut. The story revolves around a 10 year-old girl Katja and her friend Masurin Lene, 73, who are trying to find Katja's father in Gdansk.

The family film, co-produced by schlicht und ergreifend (Munich) and Pokromski Studio (Warsaw), carries a €27,125 budget. It will be shot in the film's two locations, Berlin-Marzahn and the port of Gdansk.

The co-production between Ziegler Film (Berlin) and Filmcontract (Warsaw) received €30,000.

The German-Polish Co-development Fund was created in 2005 to support projects that encourage co-productions between the two countries and are interesting for both markets.

Applicants for the next grant allocation session are invited to submit their project by November 12. Application forms are available at www.mdm-online.de, www.medienboard.de and www.pisf.pl.

Another important event is the Germanic-Polish co-production meeting entitled Moving Europe – Moving Pictures, which will be held in Berlin from September 6-8. Further information will be published in due course on the sites above.
