German productions and co-productions in Locarno

13 German films and co-productions will be seen at the 60th Locarno International Film Festival (August 1-11, 2007).

The festival has selected Ulrike von Ribbeck’s film debut Sooner or Later for the Official Competition, in which Las vidas posibles by Sandra Gugliotta (Argentina/Germany) is also showing.

Germany is represented in the new sidebar Ici & Ailleurs by two films: Preussisch Gangstar by Irma-Kinga Stelmach and Bartosz Werner as well as A Day in the Country by Sylvie Michel.

Bende Sira – Ich bin DRAN by Ismet Erguen (Germany/Turkey) and Mein Vater schlaeft by Grzegorz Muskala can be seen in the short films competition of Leopards of Tomorrow - International Competition. Lostage by Bettina Eberhard will be presented within the Leopards of Tomorrow - Swiss Competition.

Nothing but Ghosts by Martin Gypkens will have its international premiere in the Piazza Grande, which will also feature Kenneth Bi’s international co-production The Drummer by Kenneth Bi (Hong Kong/Germany/Taiwan).

The Semaine de la Critique has invited the documentary Allein in vier Waenden by Alexandra Westmeier.

A member of Locarno’s international jury, Romuald Karmakar will also present Hamburglectures (Hamburger Lektionen) during the festival while Christopher Buchholz, in the Leopards of Tomorrow jury, will use this occasion to show Horst Buchholz...My Papa).

Moreover, the festival's new screening facility in the Piazza Grande will be launched on July 29 before the festival’s official opening with Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire.
