FESTIVALS Switzerland

Hamburg greets Swiss arrivals

by

Running from September 27 to October 4, the 15th edition of Filmfest Hamburg will be shining its spotlight on Swiss documentaries, as well as hosting the international premieres of five titles in the North German city.

Three of these have been selected in the Agenda 07 section: Christoph Kühn’s Bruno Manser - Laki Penan (Filmkollektiv Zurich), which has been the most successful Swiss documentary at the local box office to date this year (27,000 admissions); Thomas Hämmerli’s Seven Dumpsters and a Corpse (Ican Films); and Bruno Moll’s Zu Fuss nach Santiago de Compostella (PS Film).

Luc Peter and Stéphanie Barbey’s Magic Radio (Intermezzo Films) will screen in the Voilà sidebar, while the Nordlichter programme is hosting Inselkind, a graduation film made by young Swiss director Cristina Amrein at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy.

On October 1, directors and producers of the films selected are invited to attend a meeting with Hamburg filmmakers, organised by the Hamburg-Schleswig-Holstein Filmförderung and the national film promotional agency Swiss Films.
