A record-breaking year for the market
Commenting on predictions for a total of 120 million admissions for 2007 (an 11% increase over 2006), Paolo Protti, president of ANEC (National Cinema Exhibitors Association), said: "A good part of the success can be attributed to the efforts made in distributing films throughout the entire year. For the first time, there was also a fair amount of titles on offer in the summer, with box office grosses that were more than satisfying".
December 16 figures show the yearly box office at €565m, which will certainly rise in the next two weeks with the traditional Christmas blockbusters.
